The Host

This is a Korean monster movie – and it’s terrific. I’m not a big monster movie fan, but this one is character-driven – and the characters are very memorable. The special effects are excellent. Most importantly, the movie doesn’t take itself too seriously. I definitely recommend The Host.

I didn’t think I was going to like this movie – but I absolutely loved it. Helen Mirren, as everyone knows, was absolutely wonderful in this role—and she nailed Queen Elizabeth’s speech, mannerisms and her walk. Many scenes from this movie still haunt me – the Queen, alone, watching the stag in the clearing. I think the stag and its fate were symbolic of Princess Diana. I highly recommend this movie.
