Blades of Glory

I absolutely love Will Ferrell–but this movie can’t hold a candle to Talladega Nights. To me, Talladega Nights was a hilarious – but very endearing – movie about a friendship and redemption, and NASCAR just happened to be the backdrop. Blades of Glory lacked the heart of TN – but it WAS very funny nonetheless. Talladega Nights has stuck with me, whereas Blades of Glory has been forgotten.

This crime drama stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jeff Daniels, Matthew Goode and Isla Fisher. Gordon-Levitt plays Chris, a popular high school athlete whose life changes forever after he causes a fatal automobile accident. Due to a brain injury, he can’t hold a steady job and ends up as the night janitor at the bank—I won’t say more. This film is a thriller–full of twists and turns. I loved it.

This Disney computer-animated film was entertaining and enjoyable, but it wasn’t as wonderful as the Disney-Pixar collaborations: Monsters Inc., Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, etc. My kids loved it. The film contained some negative stereotypes regarding adoption, which really upset a friend of mine who has two adopted children.
